Get technology. Are you an individual or a small start up company or maybe have a restricted budget when it comes time to spend money on a social media campaign or consultants? A mouthful! So what does this mean to you? Pull $99 to $300 out of your pocket and load your PC with tools for your trade. You can find 3rd party applications all over the internet that will get the job done for you. After you tweak the settings the way you like and show a little patience they will bring you some success. These programs can bring you new followers or maybe help you pin point your audience for your specific niche or special need. But be careful on how much you spend and which ones you choose because you could end up with a bad experience and out of a few dollars. Please let us know if you would like us to suggest a few that we have researched, used, and recommended in the past. For now happy tweeting, posting, sharing, buzzing, or whatever you do to socialize on the net!

The Seeker-The Journal of a Tweeter

January 19, 2010 9 comments

Bookmark and Share

Let me first start off by saying that I am not using social media in the way a traditional user would. So what am I talking about? A marketer vs. a social butterfly is what we will break down.

As far as what I do on my profile I just do what seems to be successful to everyone else even if it’s not my forte

A marketer’s mind- surfing social media THE SEEKER- “The Journal of a Tweeter”

Currently I belong to twitter and linked in. These sites seemed to be the most professional as far as what tools I need to keep up with marketing and professional trends. The most important thing for me to get out of theses social media sites are to build on my knowledge of “the curve as much as possible” As we all seek information on the internet I am specifically targeting information topics regarding, SEO,MLM, social media, “where are the masses,” application technology, and trends in anything.
The easiest way for me to pinpoint the information I am looking for is to first look in the groups (linked in) and the lists (twitter). So let’s start from the beginning. So backing up a bit I will first target a subject and try to find the user that seems to hold the key to the information that I am looking for. Before I target a user that I believe has the info I need they must have a tremendous following. Also it is almost impossible to keep up with the homepage of statuses with currently almost 6000 people i am following because the data moves to fast but is critical for me too follow a large amount because of fear of loss (people following me) My criteria consist of the following:

1) How many followers or connections do they have?
2) How many 3rd party applications are they using to either promote or gather data on an individual basis?
3) What groups or lists are they connected too, created, or are simply are monitoring?
4) How can the information that they hoard or promote help them be successful or make me successful regarding new opportunities in business more specially generate short or long term income
5) Are they awake (when was there last status, post, communication etc…)
6) Are they human ( using technology or just reaching out I need to determine how and who is powering there information/ profile)

Ok so I am connected or following somebody that fits in my box so what is my process after I log in as a marketer. You know what I don’t think that word fits for me. After I log into as an information seeker here is what happens:
I am a SEEKER just like harry Potter. LOL. Harry Potter’s job is to track down the ball. I am tracking information.

1) I will go to my lists/ groups which contain my most important users (VIPs) and see what is the most up to date to the important up to the minute messages
2) I may be seeking information before seeking a VIP profile so I will go to the specific category that houses that topic and see what user is connected to that subject
3) Next the information that I seek will be right in the status or message but 99% of the time I will have to follow the rabbit trail
4) The rabbit trail comes in the form of a website link, blog, or adobe launch that again 99% of the time leads me to an article of some kind
5) If the information that I am seeking takes me too long to travel to I will seek the next VIP user or group
6) Next I will only read or gather the info I am looking for if it is no more than 1 or 2 paragraphs, otherwise I am turned off and will again go on to the next VIP
7) But if the data that I seek comes in the form of a let’s say 50 page report this is very attractive to me and I will download to my desktop so I can see it anytime I am in front of my PC (as a reminder) but don’t usually read the full report for a few days sometimes weeks or more specifically when the information is critical to absorb

Twitter Tweets Model: The Journel of a Tweeter (LOL)

Twitter tweets from http://www.coachingtrain.com 140 characters max per submission

9/22/09 1126 am Lesson 1 page 8 paragraph 2

Before you go into the field of battle you need to know your audience so you are not blood in the water.

1131

Whether you are getting ready to train a 3 hour class or are leading a 2 minute huddle during a timeout you must identify your audience.

121

The Prisoner –individuals that would rather be any other place, they feel they are trapped .Characteristics- disruptive, abrasive, sleeping

206

The Vacationer – a person who sees training or gatherings as a vacation from work or other unwanted activities

400

The Vacationer – Characteristics- Daydreamer, apathetic, humorous, volunteers

806pm

The Expert -a person who may or may not provide expertise of subjects or ideas being talked about in a formal or informal setting.

826

The Expert – Challenges you on every topic. Characteristics- Disruptive, aggressive, arms crossed

9239 843am

An Information Expert must actively study, teach, or train a specific subject for 10 years full time (approximately 40 hours per week) before technically becoming an “Information Expert”

907

The Explorer – (this is who we yearn for folks) the individuals that are looking you in the eye, eager to learn new content and will apply it soon after your new information is provided

908

Characteristics- talkative, asks lots of questions and takes plenty of notes, may take the subject off course…to left field and beyond….

1109

It is critical to identify your audience as soon as possible.

1117

It is highly suggested that you make mental notes of your audience immediately in order to develop strategy that you can utilize within minutes of interaction.

1140

Larger groups will obviously take longer to pinpoint than a small team.

"Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up." - Thomas Edison

100

Engaging your audience with the following strategies will provide you with your core of operations:

309                 the call out

Put the prisoner on the spot by welcoming them into the group. This is aggressive on your part but will be a great *icebreaker and will provide laughter.

326pm

Ice breaker- something done or said to relax a formal atmosphere or situation; a ship with a reinforced bow to break up ice and keep channels open for navigation

9249

1027am

If necessary recall being a prisoner yourself. Anytime you can stop recall being any of these characters is great.

259pm

It is fantastic to be human to your group because sometimes we can appear robotic because we are so into our training. Build up your momentum!

518

It is very important to mention that the vacationer and the expert are closely related. Your student could be on vacation because they are previously knowledgeable in the subject or may have past experience.

527

Watch for wolves in sheep’s clothing. So let’s change it up a bit. Take your topic out of the text book and explain it in a real life situation.

604

Get off topic a little in the beginning so that you capture the vacationers’ attention and suck them in by telling a story that relates.

833

Finally put the topic into the hands of the vacationer by giving them the floor for a minute to share their story on topic.

In some cases you may have to talk to your experts individually without making a spectacle of your conversation (preferably after class).

838pm

All bets are off if you have a 3 hour class to train and the expert is being disruptive early on.

“The Call Out” can be executed at this point.

858am 9/25/9

Your 2 main goals for your expert is to get them to stop being disruptive but they must feel important by contributing to your training. Let the expert become your teacher’s aide.

916

The worst case scenario is when the expert has learned the topic of discussion one way prior to this training “your way” or the “new way.”

129pm

Your students could become torn on which way works best or worse use the experts’ information and not yours.

Here is a list of questions and statements you can lay on the expert after delivery of your subject in training: Please note placement of these suggestions should be in front of class or group

326

“How did you handle that situation at your company?”

“I totally understand where you are coming from but we do it this way not because your way is wrong but because…

Can you tell us a little more about that…” (*delivery sandwich)

“Can I use you for a minute? Great please demonstrate…”

613

Delivery sandwich- sandwiching criticisms between layers of praises

The Explorer- “We came, We saw, We conquered, Is that it?”

9/26/9 954am

The explorer will help you steer your audience. But will it be in the direction that you want to head? Well hopefully you are constantly monitoring yourself talk mechanism and internally are processing the direction of your audience.

Many RTs

644pm

So here is what you need to know:

(this is the most important) Be available for your student.

Whether you stay after your presentation and or are available for one on one or questions need to be answered during class, L  you need to make your brain available for the picking.

92709 841am

  1. Know your material. Welcome the challenge. Study up

If you are BIG TIME (leader, respected, empowering) you must be or act as if you are the material/subject matter expert at all the times.

307 pm

If you are a rookie or a seasoned veteran this always applies. So if you half too “* fake it till you make it” and or “*act as if.”

9/28/09 848am

“fake it till you make it” – If you have passion and love and wish to become a subject matter expert then you do whatever you can to prepare yourself for the environment that you are about facilitate and sessions in the future.

839pm

Act as if you are the president, Act is you have a million dollars…..You feel great, You are being promoted, You own your business..Show it
